Bhartiya Sangeet
Bhartiya Sangeet – The Soul of Indian Tradition
At our Gurukul, Bhartiya (Indian) Traditional Music is taught as a sacred art that connects the heart to the divine. Rooted in ancient scriptures like the Natya Shastra and passed down through the Guru-Shishya parampara, Indian music is not just for performance—it is a path to inner harmony, devotion, and cultural pride.
Children learn the fundamentals of both Shastriya Sangeet (Classical Music)—Hindustani and Carnatic—as well as folk, devotional (bhajans, kirtans), and mantra-based singing. The curriculum includes:
- Swara (musical notes) and Raga (melodic frameworks)
- Tala (rhythmic cycles) and basic laya (tempo)
- Voice culture, intonation, and ear training
- Practice with traditional instruments like the tanpura, tabla, and harmonium
- Bhakti-based compositions that awaken spiritual sensitivity
- Stories of great composers and saints like Tansen, Thyagaraja, and Meera Bai
Our approach emphasizes feeling over form, encouraging students to sing from the heart, absorb the mood of the raga, and understand the spiritual and cultural depth behind each composition. Group singing, call-and-response methods, and participation in seasonal festivals and events help nurture joy and confidence.
Through Bhartiya Sangeet, students don’t just learn music—they experience sanskriti (culture), samvedana (sensitivity), and sadhana (dedicated practice).
